MacNab ClanCrest and Tartan
From Clann an Aba means children of the Abbott and it refers to the descendants of the Abbot of Glendochart from the time of King David I in the mid 12th century. Their lands ranged from Strathfillan to Loch Tay. The clan was closely allied to the MacDougalls who strongly opposed The Bruce. Much of their lands were forfeited after Bannockburn. Clan Chief “Smooth John” MacNab was a Whig, however the clan supported the Stewarts. Motto “Timor Omnis Abesto” (Let fear be far from all)
