MacKinnon Clan
Crest and Tartan
The MacKinnons claim descent from Fingon, the great grandson of Kenneth MacAlpine, King of Scots. A West Highland clan, their lands ranged from Mull to Skye. John MacKinnon was the last Abbot of Iona who died there in 1550. Supporters of the Jacobite cause they fought in the Risings of 1715 and 1745. The Chief was taken prisoner in the ’45 and held in the Tower of London.
