Clan Crest and Tartans

Campbell is an old “Scots” family. They descend from the Irish who colonized Dalraida part of Argyll during the time of the Picts. Campbells were strong allies of Robert the Bruce and became a powerful force in Argyll and the west of Scotland. Generations of Campbells held prominent positions of state. In 1871 the 9th Duke of Argyll married H.R.H. Princess Louise, the daughter of Queen Victoria and raised a regiment.
