Clan Crest and Tartan

The name comes from the Gaelic word for crooked nose. Several groups around Glen Nevis contributed to the formation of the clan. Cameron of Lochiel was made Barron in 1528. Staunch supporters of the Stuart kings the Camerons opposed Cromwell. “The Gentle Lochiel” a very popular figure during his time fought for Prince Charles in the ‘45.
