Buchanan ClanCrest and Tartan
In Gaelic Buchanan translates to Son of the Cannon, thus of ecclesiastic origin. The lands around Loch Lomond were given to the Buchanans by Malcolm II for their defense against the Danes. The Buchanans were supporters of Robert the Bruce and joined the Scots contingent at Agincourt. Motto “Clarior Hinc Honos” (Brighter Hence the Honor)
